Obama's Senior Intelligence Advisor John Brennan says he supports telecom immunity.

From the article:

"I do believe strongly that they (telecomm companies) should be granted that immunity...
...I know people are concerned about that, but I do believe that's the right thing to do. I do believe the Senate version of the FISA bill addresses the issues appropriately."

....Paging Chris Dodd......want to re-think that support?

Obama's campaign and advisors are their own worst enemies.  And aren't they so progressive?

Eh, it's not really the kind of issue that'd work much.   Obama and Hillary were both in the D.C. area campaigning when the bill came to the Senate.  Obama made time to vote against it, Hillary didn't.

Do naughty advisers give bad advice? Spank. Team Obama has had a rough week. I sense a campaign on the verge of imploding.

Re: Obama Adviser: 'strongly' support TeleCom Immu (2.00 / 1)

Seriously?  You take Hillary to task for the opinions of her advisers and surrogates (especially Bill Clinton), but then when Obama's people show pretty awful positions and public ramblings (Power, Rice, Goolsby, and now this guy), but Obama is heralded and considered great because he doesn't have "yes" men surrounding him.

Seriously...
Seriously...

I pity all you who think the person at the top is the only one doing the work.  Do you think Barack Obama wrote out the positions on his website personally?  The fact of the matter is that person at the top surrounds themselves with people who support his ideas, and they are the ones fleshing them out and writing the policy.

Wake up...

Re: Obama Adviser: 'strongly' support TeleCom Immu (none / 0)

Obama voted against it while Hillary was absent.  I don't see how you can make that argument in this particular case, especially considering the following;

A)  Hillary criticized Obama for present votes in the Illinois Senate(where that is a common practice).
B)  Hillary criticized Obama for not holding a single subcommittee hearing(for the record, the idea of a subcommittee conducting oversight of a war is ludicrous)
C)  Hillary claimed Obama is an empty suit without substance.

Re: Obama Adviser: 'strongly' support TeleCom Immu (none / 0)

And Obama missed the vote on Iran, in which he said Hillary voted to authorize war (again).

So, are we even?

And Obama missed the most votes of any presidential candidate last year...in addition to never holding a single subcommittee hearing.  I'm not sure why you're bring that fact up...

I'm sorry (none / 0)

But when have I ever criticized Hillary's advisers for having an opinion that differs from hers?  I hope and expect that her policy advisers give give her a diverse viewpoint, and that she occasionally has to argue with them and, in the process, question her own beliefs.

Re: Obama Adviser: 'strongly' support TeleCom Immu (none / 0)

Obama has said VERY explicitly he does not support it. Advisor opinions are... advisory. He showed up to vote against it, for that matter. (while HRC was one of the 2 absent senators that missed that vote)

He Actually Missed It... (none / 0)

Barack Obama DID NOT VOTE on S.2248, the FISA bill..

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/ro ll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?con gress=110&session=2&vote=00020

I blame Randi Rhodes and many others for sloppily spreading the falsehood he voted on it one way or the other.

Sure he was there earlier, but he inexplicably didn't take a stand.

But wants to claim one anyway.

I'm Sorry (none / 0)

I got lost in the web of votes on S.2248 and was misinformed.

The final vote wasn't the big vote.  A nice person pointed out it was a procedural vote earlier that was the key vote and Barack voted.

Sorry!
